City Life Church Cambridge is a cell church. You may have heard of cells. Many of the fastest growing and largest churches in the world are cell churches. This means that they are made up of small, active groups that live out what church is all about.

The name comes from biological cells. A healthy body is made up of individual cells that multiply to produce growth. They are distinct parts of the whole, containing the DNA and life of the body but also having a unique function. Our cells are groups of around ten people who carry the life of the church, applying what we are about into their lives together.
More and more congregations in the UK are using the word cell to describe their small groups. However, cell is more than just a name. Not all churches with cells are true cell churches. Real cells are much more than home groups or bible study groups. They are built upon biblical principles, and exist with a clear focus. In City Life Church we call these principles values, and the focus vision.
Obviously we still have a corporate identity when we meet together on a Sunday morning. But this meeting is not church: it is where the church comes together. As you read this and check out other articles on the site explaining our cell vision and values, we hope that you will see how important it is for a church to exist in small, active communities as well as holding large meetings.
Joining a cell
Being part of City Life Church Cambridge means being an active part of one of our cells. It is more important than coming along to our Sunday meetings. We would urge everybody who wants to make CLC their local church to become part of a cell, not because it is our structure, but because they have caught the vision of why cells are so valuable and effective.
If you want to get involved with a cell, email email@citylifechurch.net or come along to one of our Sunday morning gatherings and ask us how to get started! |
