Read the Bible in a year
Reading the Bible through in a year is a tremendously worthwhile activity. On top of all the benefits of reading scripture anyway, it will give you an overview of the Bible that you can't get any other way, helping you to understand passages in context, and exposing you to the full spectrum of God's voice in print.
This plan has been put together specially for City Life Church. A number of us are working through it together, giving us a shared journey that we can discuss in the forums. We can also hold each other accountable to sticking at it (especially when we get to Numbers!). Other benefits of this custom-built schedule include:
Straight through from Genesis to Revelation
No flitting around - gives you a lucid overview of the whole Bible
Six readings per week
If you miss a day it doesn't matter - there's one day off per week
Weighted readings
Longer sections for derring-do narrative, shorter passages when it comes to Pauline theology...
Whole books at once
Where possible some of the shorter books (such as letters and minor prophets) are read in one sitting, giving an important overview and feel for the books
How does it work?
Monthly readings will appear on the front page of this website. There will be six passages per week. The monthly portions can be found below, as can the full plan if you wish to see it. There is even a miniature version of the full plan for you to print off and stick in the front of your Bible.
