Ground Force comes to Kings Hedges!
Or at least that's what Emily and Ian's neighbours thought, after more than 15 CLC-ers turned up to clear their garden on Sunday afternoon.
It all started when Nicky from the Jenny Wren Pub rang us up 3 weeks ago telling us about her friend's garden that was in desperate need of a make over. She explained that Ian has been caring for his wife Emily, who is terminally ill with cancer, leaving them with no time or energy to to look after their garden. The pub wanted to help them out, but knew what a big job was on their hands and wondered if we'd be able to help them. How could we refuse?!
Three weeks later, on a warm Sunday afternoon, a trailer arrived along with refreshments - all organised by the Jenny Wren - and about 25 people from CLC and Kings Hedges. There was a fantastic atmosphere all afternoon, some great conversations were had and we managed to transform their garden too.
Emily and Ian were so blown away by the team's attitude, their willingness to give up an afternoon for them, and how much was achieved. They have now invited us back for a bonfire and BBQ to say thank you!
These are exciting times for us in Kings Hedges. Thank you to everyone who turned up yesterday; I really believe it was significant in terms of our relationship as a church with the pub and this family, and I'm so excited to see what this leads to.
Take a look below to see some before and after shots.
The guys worked hard down the side of the back garden
Nicky and the guys from the Jenny Wren focused on the front garden

The main part of the back garden was the biggest job!

An hour in and still going strong!
  We've finished!!

Check out how much rubbish we generated.

Well done team - great work!
