church life

Does your destiny lie in the humble cucumber?

Do you think God might be calling you to serve the church musicians team? Hearing voices, getting feelings, not sure? The answer may lie in the humble cucumber! Yes. Not only good for your health, the the cucumber could hold the key to your serving growth in God.

The first musicians meeting of the 'year' was held last week to welcome newies and introduce what we are about and hopefully are going to be about in the coming time.

The focus of the group at the moment is to build 'team' and in this are some key values that we have identified which all start, strangely, with the letters that spell cucumber.

C is for Calling-Knowing that God has called you to this group and recognising that call as a journey.

U is for Unity-The Word says that where there is Unity among the brethren there God commands His

blessing. Whats the blessing- HIS PRESENCE. We are all about musically helping folk

meet with God and see Him exalted in our meetings

C is for Commitment- its a season to be committed, to be working towards growing together, to be set

apart. Like the Levites. Commited to doing the work God had made them to do.

U is for Usefulness- finding any practical way we can help people experience God is musical areas. We

want to be resourceful, the first to offer, blessed to be a blessing.

M is for Meekness- Self explanatory really

B is for Building-     Getting better, growing together. Fresh ideas and initiatives to meet needs

E is for Excellence- NOT brilliance, excellence. Becoming the best we can with what we have. Working

toward maximising our potential in God both spiritually and musically.

R is for Relationship- by this we measure how successful we are as a team.. the bible says they will

Him by the love we have for each other. So this shall be our yardstick. How real

is our relationship with Him, and with others on team, and with the church and

with non christians in our lives.

One day we hope to have a team vision. Yeah I know your supposed to have values AND vision established as a foundation for this team building stuff but basically at this point I have no idea how we will end up looking in 5 years or 25 years. I' m asking God for it. He's going to show us it. But I figure you can' t have a vision for a team when you ain't got no team. So I' m going step by step. If you work better with the idea of a ' team vision' then I guess you could say our vision is to get a vision- something thats fresh and for us where we are at specifically for what He would have us do in our area of ministry.

I am convinced that these are exciting days in CLC Music. We dont want to rely on formulas or whats working for other teams/churches/groups- we dont want to rely on anything but fresh revelation and anointing from God.

May the humble cucumber speak to you in new ways...

How did you get it to spell CUCUMBER so conveniently? Whenever I flirt with acronyms they come out as mild swear words or complete nonsense. Isn't it Byronic, don't you think?

I admit to struggling somewhat with the second U...until one very early morning there was a loud crack of thunder...
