Children's work

Values

Simply put, they're CLCs values:  relationship, reality, fun, food, respecting people and, of course, loving Jesus and those He loves.

  • Giving the kids a foundation of who God is, his reality and his love for them and the world

  • Communicating Father's love to the kids in the way we relate to them: respect, patience, fun and joy... to name a few

  • Leading them in experiencing the Bible, parables, Truths, communcating with God and "fellowship" or Godly relationships

Kids learn by doing, and it's been said that their concentration is one minute for each year of age!  So how we teach is flexible and creative.

RISING STARS

The youngest kids (Creche), "Rising Stars" play and listen to Bible stories.  The leader and helper pray for them and specific needs we've gleaned or been told by the parents.  The kids have a snack each week, sometimes they decorate cookies and then get to eat them!  We have music for praise as well. Singing, actions, etc.

Here's some of the Themes and activities the "Rising Stars" get up to to give an idea:

Teaching:

"Blessings",  "Visitors",  "Faces (cross, happy, etc.)", "Man Couldn’t Talk",  "Lost!", "In The Jordan", "Helpers & Friends",  "Wedding Party", "Thru The Roof",  "How Important People Are", "On a Mountain", "Mother’s Day", "A Sick Servant", "Farmer’s Seeds"

Activities:

hand painting, Toolkit Carpenter, Playdough (make tablet), make temple – lego wooden people, paint – dove, water, lego person, Junk Modelling – boats, fish & nets, Badges – Very Important Person, Paint, Plant Seeds (cress, runner beans)

KINGDOM SEEKERS

The middle group (3-6s) also have a theme each week, with activities, games, 'making-stuff' and "pretending" all included in the learning and fun.

GODCHASERS

This group has some info on the website already, check it out to get a feel for what we get up to.

We aim to be role models and good examples to the kids, showing first hand that there are folks out there who love Jesus, are passionate about him, and that's "cool".

Besides being an example and real friends, we pray with the gang about stuff which is relevant to them, look into the Bible to discover Him for ourselves, and pray for friends and family as well.  These guys are full of energy; you'll see them playing football, going swimming, all sorts!

Some recent GodChasers Themes/Activities:

"Listening to God"
(exercise on trust/teamwork/listening where one person is blindfolded and others give directions of how to get a balloon accross a room, around various obstacles, and into a bin.
Tied in with scriptures that Father speaks, that we can listen and hear him, etc.

"Jesus is The Way"
A Game of hopping from one marked bit of the floor to another, attemping to get to the one marked "Father".  The only one that will actually work is one particular path (Jesus)  tied into scripture of Jesus being THE Way, no other way to Father except thru the Son, etc.

"Self Image"
Psalm 139

Attributes of God (Faithfulness)

"Name of God"

"Forgiveness"

"Do Not Worry" see Matthew 7
