Haiti Earthquake Appeal
We have all been shocked and moved by the earthquake that struck Haiti on 13th January. The scale of the disaster is still being assessed, but between 50,000 and 200,000 are feared dead and as many again seriously injured and/or buried beneath the rubble as many public buildings including schools and hospitals collapsed.
Tearfund are amongst the groups setting up emergency appeals for both prayer and donations. The current biggest fear is the spread of disease due to the dead bodies that are being thrown on to the street, as there is nowhere else to put them. Many are injured and the few hospitals that are still standing have had to close their doors to new patients, as they are overwhelmed. The most immediate needs that Tearfund are trying to fulfil are those for shelter, food and water.
Please watch this video below for more details. In addition please be praying for the points here. If you want to donate money towards the appeal there is any easy online method on the Tearfund website or you can donate by phone (number on the website).
