Making a loud Noise

How do you make a loud noise without needing to say a word? Easy – by getting out and getting involved in blessing a community. March 9th saw us do just that. Fifty CLCer’s got involved and got dirty on a perfect Sunday a couple of weeks ago.

Our most recent Community Action Noise day saw us tackle 16 projects, ranging from shed clearing, tree uprooting, weeding, bush removal, rubbish clearance of washing machines, sofa’s, bikes, wardrobes, carpets, we did garden tidy’s, and as usual, serious amounts of digging!
You may think that your contribution to the day was small and not that important, but that’s where your wrong! all our clients are amazed that we are willing to do all the jobs for free and will no reason. in a culture which has become so individualistic and consumerist, this is where we make the loudest noise; by going against all expectations, habits and showing people we do care.

In case you hadn’t realised, the Noise is all about being true church in the community – not just existing for its members. The early church in the New Testament were a group of unlikely revolutionaries who were based in the heart of their communities. They developed relationships and met people’s felt needs. We may not have seen the lame walk or the blind see on Sunday, but we met the needs that people had, and began or continued to develop relationships.
God is doing such exciting things in King’s Hedges – he is preparing the ground, waiting and longing for us to engage and harvest the fruit that is there. He is desperate for a generation of people who love and are surrendered to Him; a generation who say there is nothing more important than what He wants to do with and through us. What we are doing in King’s Hedges is a small part of this challenge, but the Noise Sunday was a big noise in the spiritual world. It was a day of reclaiming God’s occupation of that area of Cambridge.

I want to say a massive belated thank you to all of you who came and helped out or prayed for us. I am pleased to be able to say that despite lots of early finishes, we got all the jobs done, with lots of happy clients. I want to pass on some of the thanks we had from the clients,

‘I would like to let you know I am very pleased by the work your young people did for me yesterday. They were very good’ Bronwen

‘Thank you so much for all your help. Also the young men that came on Sunday and worked so hard. I was so pleased with their work.’ Betty

‘Thank you so much for your help. We hope to see you again soon’ Dorothy & Bill

Not being able to have a feedback session at the end of the day meant we did not get to hear peoples stories from their jobs, so I know it has been a couple of weeks, but please do let us all know what you did or testimonies of the day. As we heard from Gabriel a couple of weeks ago, as church we should encourage one another, so tell us your stories.

If you weren’t able to join us last time, fear not, we have a full weekend at the end of the summer term on 21-22 June – so keep it free! And check out the Summer Blast stuff  - a full on week of blessing the community.
