CLC Spring News

Spring Day!

At last the light evenings are upon us, and I think we’re up for living a bit more! How about you?
If you’re coming back in after the Easter break – welcome back! We’re in for a great term together. If you’re playing in any gigs, up to anything exciting that others could join you in, if you’ve got an ask or are thinking about something deep or you’ve got a God story you want to thank Him for and encourage others with – why don’t you post it here on the website this term. Let’s stay connecting.

‘Peace Up’

Those studying among us, we are really praying for you in this term as you take to your finals and end of years exams - Phillipians 4:4-8 to you. To those of us not studying - let’s be imaginative as to how we can bless and dish up some ‘peace and lovin’ at this time for these guys.

Simply being together

We’re continuing this term to meet together to praise, pray, encourage and to be enriched in our faith in the scriptures together as we seek to encounter more of God in our lives. We are in the middle of a new series on the Kingdom of God - check out the web diary as we do move around venues a little this term and listen to the podcasts of the talks so far. So hold on and enjoy the ride!

Something Special:

Hope 24/7prayer week and Hope Where You Live

At the end of this month I invite you to come to prayer with the Christian community in Cambridge. We'll be spending a week together seeking God and His moving in our city. This is a special 24-7 prayer week with the student movement of 24-7 prayer in the city joining with churches and Christians. I can imagine us loving this and being a vital part of it.

Friday 25th April – Friday 2nd May: www.cambridgeprayer.com to sign up for a prayer slot at the Henry Martyn Hall Prayer Room.

Summer Blast:  (Sun 27th July - Sun 3rd August)

In it's 6th year, it's gonna be an exciting week building on all that's gone before.
The week will be very much a game of two halves. We have sought to build a programme that keeps things simple and focused. Young people and families are particular folks we have on going relationships and connection with on the estate. So, this is where our energies are going to be lying this year. As it’s the school holidays the week will be featuring:

Day Time:
The Café and Kids Blast Zone: 3-5pm every day
Sports for Youth: 2-5pm every day
Noise Projects on two mornings
A Blessings Team – operating in a more unscripted capacity throughout the week from the prayer room engaging with the public.

Evenings:
‘The Space’ – Open worship forum at the Good Shepherd 24-7prayer room.
Youth Detached Work
Pub Team – Gig nights Thursday and Friday.

Then for the weekend – this is the big one! We are going to be bringing a marquee back for a central 24hour special feature on the Arbury Park. We are going to need to recruit a strong team of 50 plus - from the CLC football lads, to the CLC tribes and even inviting back CLC old timers to be a part of this weekend.

The idea? Set the tent up on Saturday daytime launching with jacket potatoes and a full on live gig on the Saturday night. With a full security and youth team we will put out groundsheets and rugs and chill the night away with whoever cares to hang out from the estate under the stars. Then on Sunday morning at 10am we are going to invite the whole estate out for The Big Breakfast served from 9.45am-11am (bring a garden chair will be on the invite). Then we’ll have an ambient time of worship and church in the tent with stories and highlights from the week. This will then crack into a full community day from big team games as ‘It’s the Knock Out’ to creative projects and food purchased from local burger and kebab vans. There will be the usual favourites of bouncy castles and face painting…all mixed in. The day will finish at 3pm with a big tent and site pack down. Crazy? – yes! But we reckon we can do it!!!

THE SUMMER BLAST IS BACK WITH VIGOUR and we need YOU! Would you be willing to be apart of this adventure? What could God do through us for a week on Kings Hedges?
